Study program Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was established as a result of focusing on interdisciplinary studies in social sciences. The program is organized as a combination of perspectives of analytical materials and what Sociology, Political Sciences, Economics, International Relations and History have to offer.

Students can choose between relatively disciplinary specializations from European studies, strategic studies or they can decide to take more interdisciplinary and thematic fields, such as political movements, globalization, ethnic conflicts, Balkan and European studies.

Program Overview

Study program Political Science and International Relations offers undergraduate studies to students primarily interested in international and regional studies. The field comprises of studying history, politics, economics, culture of regional systems across the world, international economics, causes and consequences of wars and conditions for peace, roles of major international powers and other states in world trends, roles played by individuals and groups in creating international conflicts and cooperation.

Program Objectives

The aim of this program is to equip students understand and use main concepts, approaches and theories in studying political science and international relations, as well as analyze, interpret and evaluate trends in global politics.

Career Opportunities

Undergraduate studies in Political Science and International Relations provides students with a wide range of knowledge which can be used in different areas of life. Students will acquire knowledge in political economics, political sciences, sociology, history, business, international relations and diplomacy, international organizations, etc. This multidisciplinary approach will prepare students for different lines of work: diplomat, journalist, analyst, expert in the field of foreign affairs, etc.

Graduates from this program can find jobs in public and private sectors, regional and international organizations, as well as governmental and non-governmental sectors.

International Students

Candidates who are citizens of foreign countries can submit preliminary application for admission before the official call is published by the University, so that they can obtain necessary residency permits and satisfy language requirements prior to the start of lectures at the University.
