The Department of Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) offers two Bachelor's study tracks, both taught entirely in English and designed to provide students with a strong interdisciplinary education and practical skills for careers in public service, diplomacy, international organizations, business, civil society, and academia.
The Political Science and International Relations study track examines political systems, governance, public policy, comparative politics, international relations, security studies, European integration, and global affairs. The curriculum combines perspectives from political science, sociology, economics, law, history, and international relations, enabling students to develop strong analytical, research, and policy-making skills.
Students may further tailor their studies through a wide range of elective courses, allowing them to specialize in areas such as European studies, strategic and security studies, political thought, political sociology, conflict resolution, globalization, ethnic conflicts, Balkan studies, and contemporary international politics. The study track is offered both as a regular four-year Bachelor's program at IUS and as a Double Degree Program with Istanbul University, where students spend the first two years at IUS and the final two years at Istanbul University.
The International Relations and Diplomacy study track is designed for students interested in diplomacy, foreign policy, international organizations, negotiation, international law, security, and global governance. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical training in diplomacy and international affairs, preparing graduates for careers in diplomatic services, international institutions, embassies, governmental agencies, NGOs, and multinational organizations.
Students study topics including international relations theories, diplomacy, foreign policy analysis, international organizations, geopolitics, security studies, international political economy, European politics, and regional affairs, while also developing practical skills through research, simulations, internships, and engagement with practitioners from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.
