Political Science and International Relations

Dear Students,

Welcome to the Political Science and International Relations (or, as we say – PSIR) study program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS)!

Established in the same year as the university itself in 2004, PSIR has been committed to providing an interdisciplinary education within the Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA).

The Political Science and International Relations study program offers a full complement of undergraduate and postgraduate courses taught in English. The Bachelor’s program comprises 240 ECTS credits, the Master’s program 60 ECTS credits, and the PhD program 180 ECTS credits. Our curriculum is designed to reflect the depth and diversity of the discipline while remaining relevant to policymaking and practitioners’ perspectives. We foster a collaborative environment where students and professors engage actively both inside and outside the classroom through lectures, seminars, research projects, and extracurricular activities.

The objective is to provide students with practical learning experiences beyond the classroom. This is achieved through guest lectures and visits to state institutions, embassies, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations based in Bosnia and Herzegovina, offering invaluable insights into state institutions, diplomacy, and international affairs.

We also offer exciting opportunities such as scholarships, the Erasmus program, double diploma with Istanbul University, and minors (a supplemental second discipline of study and concentration) in related fields such as International Business Finance, Management, Economics and Law. Additionally, students are expected to complete their internship in Bosnia and Herzegovina or abroad during their undergraduate studies, which will prepare them for the job market after graduation.

The core faculty of the study program consists of professors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the USA, and Belarus. Our faculty members are not only dedicated educators and mentors but also nationally and internationally recognized in their respective research fields.

The Political Science and International Relations study program prepares students for various career paths. Our recent graduates have pursued careers in public institutions, non-governmental organizations, banks, private firms, multinational companies, international organizations, think tanks, media, university professors, and advanced studies at some of the world’s top graduate schools. This underscores the career-oriented focus of our study program, which is committed to preparing students for a broad spectrum of professional opportunities.
